Joseph Maroon, MD, FACS

Joseph Maroon is a board-certified neurosurgeon, a professor at the
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and team physician of the
Pittsburgh Steelers. Dr. Maroon is the Chairman of the Medical Advisor
Board of GNC. Honored as one of America’s Best Neurosurgeons for
8 consecutive years, he has published over 250 scientific papers, 8
books, and 40 book chapters. His other research has focused on the
prevention and treatment of injuries and disease.

In his most recently published book, The Longevity Factor:
How Resveratrol and Red Wine can Activate Genes for a Longer
and Healthier Life
, Dr. Maroon relates the new science of genetic
activation and the ability of food choices, supplements and lifestyle
choices to activate human genes, to better health and disease prevention.
He has also authored Fish Oil: The Natural Anti-inflammatory, which discusses the wide range of conditions for which omega-3 fish oil has been found helpful.

As a world famous neurosurgeon, he has been honored by various national and international neurological societies for his contributions to neurosurgery. Despite his busy professional schedule, he is a devoted athlete, completing 50 Olympic distance triathlons since 1980, and was inducted in Lou Holtz Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame in 1999 for his athletics and sports medicine.

Dr. Heather A. Hausenblas

Dr. Heather A. Hausenblas, PhD, obtained her Doctorate from The
University Of Western Ontario, Canada. Since 1998, she has been a
faculty member of the University of Florida. Recognized early in her career
for her outstanding research, she has been the recipient of several awards.
Furthermore, she has been recognized by the President of the International
Olympic Committee for her research achievements in health behaviors.
Dr. Hausenblas is the co-author of four scientific books, and she has
published more than 70 scientific journal articles. Specifically, she has
been the recipient of several research grants to examine the
psychological effects of physical activity across the lifespan and its
relationship to “healthy aging.” She is currently the Principal Investigator
on two National Institutes of Health research grants, longitudinally
examining the effects of physical activity during motherhood. Her ultimate
research goal is to understand, promote and instill a healthy lifestyle for people during every stage of life.

Of French descent, Dr. Hausenblas has spent time in southern France and has repeatedly noticed some striking differences in the French lifestyle to that of most of the Western world; the French take time for life, friends and family - often gathered around a ‘dining table’ with a fine glass of red wine. Many meals end with a ‘constitutional stroll,’ and, in fact, exercise clubs and gyms are practically unheard of, yet the French are among the healthiest people - suffering little from heart disease and symptoms commonly associated with their fat-rich diet. Her goal is to bring the best of France to the American public and help them to improve their health by supporting the lifestyle improvements of increased social support, a healthy diet and regular physical activity.

Dr. Hausenblas, as Scientific Advisor, offers to ResVitale customers her passion, concern and vast knowledge regarding healthy aging. Her work with ResVitale draws upon her formidable skills as a researcher to investigate and formulate products that will support her goal for a healthier and longer-lived American public.

Jeff Bost, PAC

Jeff Bost, PAC, has been a Neurosurgical Physician Assistant, clinical
instructor in neurosurgery and an associate of neurosurgeon, sports
medicine specialist and nutritional expert Dr. Joseph Maroon since 1987.

Mr. Bost and Dr. Maroon have a special interest in minimally invasive
spine and brain surgery and have collaborated on many scientific and
medical papers and books in these areas.

In 2007, after meeting David Sinclair, PhD and head of the Anti-Aging
Laboratory at Harvard Medical School, both Dr. Maroon and Mr. Bost
became intrigued with how newly discovered longevity genes could
be activated to preserve health and prolong life. Specifically, they learned
about the natural supplement, resveratrol, found in red grape skins, its
gene activation and health benefits. In 2009, Mr. Bost was the lead
researcher for Dr. Maroon’s book, The Longevity Factor: How Resveratrol and Red Wine Activate Genes for a Longer and Healthier Life (Published by Simon & Schuster).

Dr. Maroon and Mr. Bost also co-authored the book, Fish Oil: The Natural Anti-Inflammatory. The book is currently in its fourth printing with over 75,000 copies sold.

Mr. Bost has lectured on natural products and its treatment for pain and inflammation at medical organizations and public forums around the world. He has given over 100 invited lectures, 24 national posters and oral presentations, 33 coordinated research projects, five workshops presentations, 23 scientific articles and has co-written two books.
